Many of you have already visited Mijas, our beautiful hillside neighbouring town famous for its beautiful white houses and its characteristics donkeys, but… Did you know that it seems Mijas already had inhabitants back in prehistory?
Very recently people in charge of the archeological excavations currently done there have found some remains of pottery very typical of the Bronze Age.
Apart from the pottery an axe has also been found so it seems this might have been a burial site as there were also some bones nearby. Back in the day this was very common as people used to get buried with their valuable items.
These remains may belong to the first inhabitants of Mijas and possibly of Costa del Sol as they have been the only ones belonging to this age that have been found in the region… Can you imagine how different Mijas was during the Bronze Age?
Mijas was already a very interesting place to visit, but now after these discoveries even more so. Try not to miss the chance to visit it while on holiday at Hotel Yaramar, your hotel in Fuengirola …As you can see Costa del Sol hides surprising secrets!
