Friendliness and good sense of humour is, in general, something very characteristic of Malaga locals. This good sense of humour is present in many of the words we use in our everyday life and also in the funny names we use to name certain things.
These cakes we want to introduce you today are a good example of this as they have an incredibly funny name.
If you have participated in the Spanish culture activity organised by Hotel Yaramar every Thursday you might already know that these cakes are called “tortas locas” which literally means “crazy cakes”, something that is quite surprising as there is nothing wrong with them and in fact they look delicious.
These “crazy cakes” are very typical from Malaga so why do you think we use the adjective “locas” to describe them? We don’t really know why, but we think they are so delicious that when you try them you get crazily in love with them!
These cakes consist of two round pieces of puff pastry with some custard cream in the middle and egg yolk icing on top. The red thing that can also be seen on top is a little piece of candied cherry… Just thinking about them is mouth watering!
If you are currently on holiday at Hotel Yaramar, your hotel in Fuengirola, and you would like to try them just know that they are quite easy to find in most bakeries and coffee shops on Costa del Sol.
Give them a go and enjoy one of our most typical cakes!
