If you have been at Hotel Yaramar this time of year or if last Thursday you took part in our weekly Spanish culture activity you might already know that the 16th of July is a very important date in Fuengirola.
The 16th of July is a local holiday as it is the day of Virgen del Carmen, the patron saint of Los Boliches, the neighbourhood where our beloved Hotel Yaramar is located.
Fuengirola is a coastal resort and Los Boliches is a traditional fishermen’s quarter very devoted to Virgen del Carmen. Being a man of the sea is a very hard and risky job, so these brave men strongly believe the Virgin protects them and keeps them safe. For this reason every 16th of July fishermen and sailors take the Virgin out in procession as a way to say thank you.
This amazing and unique procession ends with the Virgin at the sea surrounded by boats and beautiful fireworks.
As every year we invite you to contemplate this beautiful ceremony with us from the terrace of the Snack-Bar from 8:30 P.M, so if right now you have the fortune of being on holiday at Hotel Yaramar, your hotel in Fuengirola, we count on you!
Let’s enjoy one of our most amazing and beautiful traditions!
