Have you planned to spend a day exploring Malaga city next time you are on holiday at Hotel Yaramar?

If that is the case you might find this post quite useful as this week we would like to give you a bit of information about the main historic monuments in the capital of Costa del Sol.

Among all monuments in Malaga both the Alcazaba and the Gibralfaro Castle are outstanding.

La Alcazaba, together with the cathedral, is possibly the most emblematic in town. Its name means fortress and it has a Moorish origin as it was built when the moors ruled the Iberian Peninsula.

It is located in the hillside of the Gibralfaro hill and it belonged to the then rulers of the city.

Although it is located in a high position it is part of the historical city centre.

On its top stands the Gibralfaro Castle which was built in the 14th Century to house the troops and protect the Alcazaba.

Its main tower offers stunning views of the city and on clear days it is even possible to see Africa and the Straight of Gibraltar from there.

If you fancy visiting both you would like to know that it is possible to get a regular joined ticket for only 3.55€, a reduced one for pensioners for just 0.60€ or a free ticket if you decide to do your visit on Sunday after 2:00 P.M.

And why don’t you make the most of this trip to Malaga by also visiting the Roman Theatre situated at the bottom of the Alcazaba? Its entry is free!

Malaga city is one of the most beautiful and popular cities in Spain, so if you do not know it well we recommend you to visit it and to explore it.

You will certainly not regret it!
