As we have been mentioning here on the blog of Hotel Yaramar, today the 6th of October the most awaited event of the year in Fuengirola starts…The fair is finally here!
As every year from the 6th to the 12th you can feel a contagious festive mood in every corner in town, but if we have to choose the most important day of the fair that is no doubt the 7thof October.
The day of Virgen del Rosario, the patron of Fuengirola, is on Tuesday the 7th. As this is a local holiday most locals make the most of it by attending the flamenco mass wearing beautiful flamenco dresses and by having fun with friends and family.
As the number of participants rises each year the mass if not celebrated inside the Church but on Plaza de la Constitución, the most popular square in town. At 10:30 A.M approximately this beautiful ceremony will start. Once it is over the virgin will be carried in procession and will pass through the main streets of the centre of Fungirola, getting back to her temple at about 2:30 P.M.
Even if this event is meant to be relogious the flamenco mass is much more than that. Now it is a local tradition and has become one of the most beautiful and most popular events on Costa del Sol, so it is well worth to participate on it!
