Would you like to get to see one of the most important and best known Holy Week celebrations in Spain? If you do and right now you are on holiday with us at Hotel Yaramar, your hotel in Fuengirola, we highly recommend you not to miss the fantastic Holy Week of Malaga.Holy Week of Malaga - Hotel Yaramar Fuengirola

The Holy Week of Malaga is not only one of the most famous in our country but also one of the most stunning and oldest as it has over 500 years of history.

The beauty and magnificence of its images and thrones make it unique while the fact so many people visit the city to enjoy it means that the atmosphere all over the city is fantastic.

One of its most unique characteristics is that the thrones carried in procession through the streets of Malaga are so big that they couldn’t go through regular doors of churches. Because of this they have to be housed in special temples with massive doors. When we say big we mean really big! Imagine, some of these thrones can even be over 5,000 kilos of weight so they have to be carried by a big number of men!

As in Fuengirola and other towns in Costa del Sol processions in Malaga will end on Sunday the 5th of April also known as Resurrection Sunday. Saturday the 4th though is the only day of the Holy Week when no procession takes place.

Processions can last long hours and can be on till well after midnight, so for this reason train company RENFE will again extend its train times from Sunday the 29th of March to Saturday the 4th of April in order to make things much easier for those who want to attend the beautiful Holy Week events of the capital of Costa del Sol.

As you know, Hotel Yaramar is quite close to Los Boliches train station, so now there are more daily trains available it will be pretty simple for you to enjoy such amazing celebrations.

Make the most of your holiday with us by visiting the lovely city of Malaga and enjoying its fantastic Holy Week!

Have fun!
