This 2014 the Fair of Malaga is from Saturday the 16th to Saturday the 23rd of August, a week when visiting the capital of Costa del Sol is highly recommended as fun will be definitely on the cards.
One of the main characteristics of Malaga is the “joie de vivre” of its locals, so when the fair is on its atmosphere is even more joyful and special than normal.
As it happens in other places in Spain behind every fair and every celebration there is a reason. Sometimes the event has a religious origin while some other it is related to history. For example, the origin of the Fair of Fuengirola is religious as it is linked to its patron saint, Virgen del Rosario. On the other hand the Fair of Malaga has a historic background as what we celebrate is the reconquering of Malaga by the Catholic Monarchs on the 19th of August 1487.
As in the past years while the fair is on there will be several activities on in the afternoon and evening. In the afternoon and first hours of the evening the fair takes place in the core of the city, right in the city centre, while later in the evening the fun continues at the fairground.
Among the many activies scheduled we recommend the special exhibitions on display at most museums, and also the amazing perfomance of a verdiales group (typical folkore from the Mounts of Malaga) in the famous Calle Larios on Sunday the 17th from 1:00 P.M.
There will also be several very important bullfights and some really nice concerts of famous Spanish artists, but the best thing about this fair is definitely the happiness that surrounds you… smiles, music, beautiful flamenco dresses…it is just magic!
If you are currently on holiday with us and you still haven’t had the chance of experiencing this great festival Hotel Yaramar, your hotel in Fuengirola, recommends you not to miss this great opportunity…Olé!
