Spring has just arrived and with it came Holy Week, one of the most important times of year here in Costa del Sol.
Although it is a much visited tourist area where many foreigners live and come looking for a great weather and some sun, Costa del Sol keeps its own old traditions.
As Spain is a catholic country here chocolate eggs or Easter bunnies are not traditional at all. In our case, the limelight is on our beautiful processions and our yummy “torrijas”.
Processions are very important, not only in Malaga city but also in the rest of towns of the region.
Processions in the city of Malaga are one of the most spectacular ones in Andalusia. Expectancy is very high and therefore they are very crowded, but no doubt seeing them is well worth it, so if you are staying at Hotel Yaramar at the moment we recommend you to visit Malaga and see how spectacular our thrones are with your own eyes.
As we have explained on previous posts there is a really good train line that connects Malaga and Fuengirola, so visiting Malaga is quite comfortable and also cheap. During the Holy Week to make it even easier for you there are trains working all night…Great, right?
Anyway, if you prefer to stay in Fuengirola you will also be able to see some beautiful processions, either in the city centre or in Los Boliches.
Hotel Yaramar encourages you to discover the Andalusian Holy Week, to enjoy the processions, to take impressing pictures to show your friends and of course to try the delicious torrijas, a very typical sweet dish of the Holy Week very similar to French toast.
Enjoy Holy Week at Hotel Yaramar and please share your impressions with us!
