6th Edition of La Cazuela de la Abuela


It is undeniable that food in Costa del Sol is excellent and it is because of this that towns like Fuengirola support and promote local gastronomy lots by organising fantastic food routes like La Cazuela de la Abuela or the Erotic Tapas.

Even if the weather in Costa del Sol is fantastic, here in winter we also fancy some comfort food like delicious stews and soups, and this is why La Cazuela de la Abuela always takes place in February.

This year in fact will be its 6th edition and over 60 establishments will participate in it. From Friday the 10th till Sunday the 26th of February they all will offer a delicious casserole and a drink ( glass of wine, beer, soft drink or water) for only 2€.

As it is now tradition, our Rivera Beach Club will also participate this year with a delicious Iberian pork stew cooked with love and marinated for 24 hours with wine and a touch of herbs like rosemary… It sounds amazing, right?

Mercado de la Merced


Last week here on the blog of Hotel Yaramar we published a post about one of the most popular dishes of our local gastronomy.Mercado de la Merced - Hotel Yaramar Fuengirola

Today this blog is again about “good food” as we would like to recommend you a visit to a fantastic gourmet market.

This gourmet market is called Mercado de la Merced and it is located very close to Plaza de la Merced, the famous square where Picasso was born 134 years ago.

Mercado de la Merced is new but at the same time old as not till long it was a tradicional market with a few stalls where people from the neighbourhood did their shopping. Nowadays after a massive makeover it has become a fantastic gourmet market where people can do their shopping and also have a fantastic time having all kind of tapas with friends.

Now it looks trendy, cosmopolitan and fun. It is a busy and lively place in a great location that not only supports modern and traditional cuisine but also art as since it opened on the 29th of September it has housed some fantastic exhibitions. The first to arrive was the fantastic collection of jackets from Spanish celebrity chef Alberto Chicote which was followed by an exhibition called “The Streght of Art”.

La Cazuela de la Abuela


Since the first edition of “La Cazuela de la Abuela” 4 years ago every February this amazing gastronomic route is on in Fuengirola.La Cazuela de la Abuela - Hotel Yaramar Fuengirola

“La Cazuela de la Abuela” is one of the most successful routes in Costa del Sol as many local bars and restaurants participate on it.

This year it started on Friday the 13th of February and will be on till Sunday the 1st of March. As in previous editions, while it is on, all participant establishments will offer a delicious casserole with a drink for only 2 euros.

By the way, this year our Rivera Beach Club is participating again in this great route with a fantastic dish: a seafood casserole with crispy veg.

This is a delicious and healthy casserole with high quality products like chickpeas, vegetables, prawns, mussells and fish.

Last year, although it was the first time we participated, our typical casserole from Jerez was quite successful and ended up in 6th position, so we hope this year our new casserole gets an even higher place.
